As we get older, repetitive movements such as facial expressions create wrinkles in the upper third of the face. By relaxing these muscles, Botox reduces the look of lines in the brow and forehead as well as crow’s feet around the eyes, resulting in skin that is smoother and more youthful in appearance. Botox is also useful for other unwanted wrinkles on the face and neck and for excessive sweating disorders.

How Does Botox Work?

Botox is the commonly known name for BTX-A, which is approved approved for medical and cosmetic procedures. Each Botox injection relaxes muscles around key facial areas, providing a smoother, more youthful appearance. By adapting nerve impulses to the muscles in the targeted region, Botox acts as a relaxing agent, reversing years of muscle strain. By relaxing the muscles around the eyebrow region, Botox reduces the appearance of moderate-to-severe frown lines (called glabellar lines). The results of each session lasts for several months, and we recommend patients schedule a Botox session around 3 times per year.

Advantages of Botox

Botox has been used by over 11 million women and men, generating real results. Unlike other cosmetic enhancement options, Botox requires no surgery and has no recovery time. It has been proven to work on patients across a broad age spectrum, so nearly everyone can enjoy a more active, youthful appearance.

Because there is no sedative or anesthetic used with Botox, patients can return to normal activities immediately after the procedure. When the product begins to wear off, the wrinkles begin to reappear; however, they frequently are not as deep as the original ones. It usually takes two or three injections each year to maintain the smooth, youthful appearance that is desired.

Having treated over 20,000 Botox patients in the last thirteen years, Dr. Malouf’s extensive experience allows him to safely and effectively treat each patient as a unique individual and customize the approach accordingly.
